| randy loved to
get to work whenever mother started fixing dinner. he would
crawl around on the floor dragging out pots and pans and anything
he could reach from the bottom cabinets. i'm not sure where
he found his wooden spoons and some of the other things he
usually had, but he always seemed to have what he thought
he needed to help mother. (maybe mother gave them to him.)
right before i took this photo, he was using the bottle like
a rolling pin. our baby was sort of private in the things
that he did; never doing them because he thought it was cute
or funny. he was never a show-off, but he always seemed to
think out his space. in this case he got out of the kitchen
traffic and moved to his private little kitchen behind the
stove. randy loved to make music with those pots and pans.
on many occasions, he would get out three or four pots, with
and without their lids, surround himself with them like a
drum trapset, and start making music with his wooden spoons.
if only we could have captured some of those moments in video
like we do today. (randy is a very musical person. he later
played the saxophone in the concert band, jazz band, and marching
bands for conant high school in the chicago suburbs. he was
also their drum major his senior year.) notice randy's shirt
with dumbo the elephant and jiminy cricket on the front. these
were very popular cartoon characters during the fifties and
still are. check out our photo section to see this in photo
form. |
