Cruising
our famous Mother Road, whether in mind or spirit, or actually
getting out there and doing it, is downright American and
has become an international interest, as well!
To experience first-hand the fun and excitement of cruising
Route 66, our favorite ride in Oklahoma, that we call The
Strip, would be a great place to start! It goes from
Chandler, to Wellston, to Luther, to Arcadia and west almost
to Edmond, which Route 66 bypassed, and then on in to Oklahoma
City.
See our map below of this amazing and historical
ride:
THE STRIP
This super ride is a great weekend get-a-way!
Go to Travel US & Global,
book a flight to OK City's
Will Rogers World Airport, rent
a car and follow our map to The Strip.
See directions below map.
Head north out of the airport on Interstate
44,
turn right onto Interstate 235 going east,
curve into I35 and keep on traveling north.
Check out the next map below for more detail on north.
Do you see it? Route 66 will be a right, turning
east onto Route 66. It doesn't matter which direction you
go, from east to west or west to east, you are still Doing
The Strip! Now, if you are tired and want to rest, we
hope you have called ahead to one of the Bed
& Breakfasts in Guthrie which is right on up the highway
(I35) a little
stretch. Or, check in here
at Travel - US & Global, Hotels, for the best price around.
Try the Name Your Price feature and see how much
it will benefit you. Click here
at Travel Route 66 for Our Favorite Ride - Off-Road
Bed & Breakfasts Information and Map.
Check back for some wonderful photos
of the activity that happens on this great ride and historical
photos, too. They are ready to enter, as soon as we can get
it done.

Having
the Time of Our Lives!
|
|
We recently took a roadtrip down Route 66 to attend a reunion
in Arcadia, Oklahoma. It was great fun seeing those we hadn't
seen in many years, but the real fun didn't start until we
went back down to the "strip", Route 66, that runs
through the tiny town.
Bikers were everywhere having the time
of their lives!
Hillbillee's Bed & Breakfast and Restaurant was filled
with them. Out front it looked like a classic photo of days
gone by with all the bikes lined up and long the side, as
well.
Classic cars were also found both at Hillbillee's
and across the highway at the Lake Stop with more bikers,
of course. We couldn't believe the two Model A's parked out
front of the Lake Stop store. The two men drivers had just
returned from a poker run where they had obviously experienced
a wonderful time. The owner told us his cars did movies with
MGM, so you can imagine how stupendous these autos looked
and how excited we were to meet these people. A couple in
a classic convertible posed for us while we took photos. Then,
two super neat bikers did so as well. Wish we'd had more time
to take better photos, but these are priceless to us.
From Chandler, to Wellston, to Luther,
to Arcadia, and on west to Edmond is a perfect stretch of
Route 66 to ride. If you haven't experienced first-hand the
fun and excitement of cruizing this fantastic highway, you've
got to do it!!!
After you do, please send us an email telling us about it,
so that we can include it in our newsletter and let everyone
know. In this way we can all help in
Keepin'
the Spirit Alive!!!
God bless!
